A friend of mine’s father passed away not too long ago. Upon reading the news, I was inspired to write a tune. I never met the man, but I’ve known his son Alfred for some time. Both of us followed in our father’s footsteps to become pipers. We are in debt to them for the joy we have to play. Below is the sheet music to “A Father of Piping, Brian Barrow” in pdf format. Though written in 6/8, that is only for guidance, it should be free flowing. Also, you’ll find 2 recordings (in typical Patrick fashion). The first is my 1950’s Henderson pipes with a Colin Kyo laminate chanter, Monarch zip bag, Ezee drone reeds. The second is with my 2009 Gellaitry pipes with a 2010 Peter Henderson chanter, Gannaway zip bag, Kinnaird bass reed, and Crozier Cane tenor reeds.
